10 signs your cat loves you

Cats don't always wear their hearts on their sleeves. Unlike dogs, they're rarely going to greet you with endless excitement or shower you with obvious affection. Instead, cats have their own subtle ways of saying, "you’re my favourite human”.
If you've ever wondered whether your cat truly loves you, here are 10 signs to look out for.
1. They give you a slow blink
Often called a "cat kiss", a slow blink is one of the biggest signs your cat trusts you. If they look at you, slowly close their eyes and then open them again, they're showing they feel safe in your presence.
Try returning the slow blink… you might just get another one back!
2. They headbutt you
Those little forehead nudges aren't random. Cats have scent glands on their heads, and by gently bumping into you they're marking you as part of their family. It's basically their way of saying, "you’re one of us”.
3. They choose to sleep near you
Cats are at their most vulnerable when they're asleep. If your cat regularly curls up beside you, at your feet or even on your pillow, it's a huge sign of trust.
4. They follow you from room to room
Ever feel like you have a furry little shadow? If your cat insists on supervising everything from brushing your teeth to folding laundry, it's often because they simply enjoy being around you.
5. They bring you "gifts"
Whether it's a toy mouse, a leaf or something a little less welcome, many cats share their discoveries with the people they care about. While not every gift is appreciated, the intention usually is.
6. They show you their tummy
A cat rolling onto their back doesn't always mean they want a belly rub.
What it does usually mean is that they feel completely relaxed and secure around you.
7. They knead you
Those rhythmic little paws might hurt sometimes, but kneading is a behaviour kittens learn while nursing. Many adult cats continue doing it when they feel especially content and comforted.
8. They greet you when you get home
Some cats wait by the door. Others appear the moment they hear your keys.
However your cat says hello, making an effort to greet you is a lovely sign that they've missed you!
9. They chat to you
From tiny chirps to dramatic meows, many cats develop their own language with the people they love.
In fact, our recent YouGov survey found that 80% of UK cat owners say they talk to their cat several times a day. It seems the conversations aren't quite as one-sided as we might think.
10. They simply choose your company
Perhaps the biggest sign of all is the simplest one. Cats are independent creatures. They don't have to spend time with us.
When they choose to sit beside you, nap on your lap or quietly keep you company, it's because they want to. And that's a pretty special compliment!
Every cat shows love differently. Some cats are cuddly. Others prefer to sit just out of arm's reach while keeping a watchful eye on you. The important thing to remember is that every cat has their own personality. Love doesn't always look the same, but once you know the signs, you'll start spotting them everywhere.
